Haiti: Crisis and Response- How did Haiti get to this point?  - March 24, 2010, 6:00pm, Union Club

Ximena Valdes, MD, FAAP, and Marissa Herran, MD, will speak about their medical mission to Haiti, where the January 12, 2010 earthquake killed 230,000 individuals. They both recently returned from treating hundreds of children in Haiti with Initiative for Peace. Risking infection and illness, the two pediatricians traveled daily in the back of a pick-up to their outdoor make-shift health clinics. They will be joined by Marixa Lasso, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Latin American History at Case Western Reserve University to discuss: “How Did We Get Here?” and “Where Will Haiti Go in the Future?” Reserve your tickets online or at 216-255-9003.
