Public Lectures and Special Events
The Public Lecture Series strives to increase understanding of global issues through presenting different points of view from a variety of speakers. Through lectures and special events, CCWA presents internationally acclaimed speakers for discussion of relevant issues in today’s world. The lectures cover a broad range of geographical areas and are non-partisan in nature. The lectures are on topics of foreign policy, world economics and global issues of the day. Previous prominent speakers who have participated in special events, discussions and forums include; Chinese Ambassador H.E. Zhou Wenzhog, German Ambassador Dr. Klaus Scharioth, John C. Bogle, Paul Begala and Bill Kristol, and Kofi Anan. The lectures are open to CCWA members and to the general public.

International Visitors Programs
The Council's International Visitors Programs coordinate State Department-sponsored visits of high-level delegations and leaders from around the world. Over 400 international visitors come to Cleveland annually. The visitors work with an extensive team of volunteers, businesses and community leaders. The programs play a key role in public diplomacy and creating international connections for the region. Cleveland has been selected to host the 2009 National Council for International Visitors regional conference from August 5-7.

Educational Programs

The Council’s education programs are dedicated to providing knowledge and opportunities for students of Northeast Ohio as they prepare to become global citizens. Our programs respond to specific curricular goals for teachers and for the development of students as they pursue higher education and careers in the global economy.

• Model United Nations and Jr. Model United Nations  programs simulate the deliberations of UN committees and the General Assembly as students role play as ambassadors of member-states debating crucial world issues.
• Teacher Development Workshop  is a fee-based professional development workshop that focuses on regions of the world and cultures. Previous workshops have covered topics on Latin America, the Middle East, Asia: China and India, Turkey, Teaching about Global Issues and Curricular Development.
• Bridges to the World  program is a collaborative initiative with our International Visitors and Public Programs to provide opportunities for students and staff to interact with speakers and visitors from around the globe through distance learning, areas for school visits by leaders from around the globe. Students and professional staff participate in orientation sessions followed by panel discussions, lectures or other formats with international guests through school visits or through distance learning.
• Global Education Initiatives  is a program that collaborates with teachers and administrators of school districts, colleges and universities, and the Ohio Department of Education on internalization of the curriculum to better prepare students from pre-school through graduate studies for education pursuits and future careers.

Young Professional Programs
This program engages young, internationally-focused professionals in the Council’s activities. The program provides an active setting for younger members to discuss global issues while sharing a connection to the greater Cleveland area. Young Professionals’ programming is designed by its members to provide an informal forum for lively discussion and networking.
