Social Media – Creatively Connecting Communities

International visitors from Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Saudi Arabia and Sudan will travel to Cleveland to examine the principles of the First Amendment and its role in protecting free speech on social media. Visitors will observe the operations of digital media companies and those creating industry-advancing technology. Topics, such as transition of traditional media in digital age and the use of social media as an engagement and information platform, will be discussed. Visitors will also explore the work-relationship of digital content industry with non-profits, advocacy organizations and government agencies.
International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP)
Each year, over 300 professionals from around the world visit Northeast Ohio through IVLP. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, these visitors have been identified by U.S. embassies as emerging leaders in their fields. Over 50 Nobel Laureates and 335 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government are alumni of this program.
